We at Real World Fire Training, have some thoughts on how to achieve this goal. We would like your questions and/or comments regarding this. You can submit them here: Question or Comment about statement _______________________________________________ On May 6, 2002, we received a memo from Timothy L Dunkle-Administrator. It was in regards to DEP Burn Permit Applications. It stated: Certain events have occurred during live fire training in acquired structures that have necessitated the need to change policies on live-fire training in the Commonwealth. We have had students injured, structures collapse with students inside, and nearby New York State has had a student killed during live-fire training. As leaders in the fire training industry, we want to insure that the training Pennsylvania's emergency response responders receive is safe and productive. With that in mind, Commissioner Mann met with the Department of Environmental Protection to find ways to provide this safe training environment. A new requirement has been placed on organizations that want to conduct "live-fire training in acquired structures". The training must be conducted as a registered Local Level course with approved Local Level Instructors doing the training. No longer will a fire department be able to go out and burn a donated structure for training without the training being PSFA approved with approved instructors. ***How do you feel about this?
